To enhance basic sensibilities for the social sciences	Students can observe and analyze social phenomena and policy events with the learned skills.	An individual or team report of observation on or analysis of social phenomena
To enhance methodological training and application of social and policy sciences	Students acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and capabilities for public discourse.	1. An individual report paper on an interdisciplinary topic (no less than 4,000 words, with graphs and pictures no more than one fourth of the length in total) 2. An individual or team report using qualitative and quantitative methods 3. Attendance of more than two workshops
To expand social concern and global perspective	Students acquire a passion for social practice and are able to broaden their worldview.	1. Participation of or assistance in work of social concern 2. An above intermediate level achievement in GEPT or the equivalent proficiency tests of other foreign languages 3. Participation in two international or cross-strait exchanges or study programs
To cultivate critical thinking on social issues	Students acquire capabilities for independent thinking and critical analysis of social issues.	1. Work experiences in service through the class, department, faculty, student associations or NGOs as well as in communication and negotiation 2. Participation in the four areas of community building, social movement, NGOs and volunteer services 3. Participation in the department’s advisory activities or lectures on special topics 4. Participation in two youth leader camps, thinking workshops, or academic conferences
To cultivate professional ethics and capacities for team cooperation	Students acquire the correct attitude and experiences for cooperation.	A written report on professional ethics or team cooperation. Participation in at least one camp, talk or workshop on team cooperation. A written report on ethics based on one work from Canon 50.
